A Message from CEO, Peter O'Connell

The summer season is upon us, and we are thrilled to be seeing so many repeat and new customers enjoying Walpole Outdoors’ products. We work hard to create outdoor amenities for the most discerning homeowners, and we take pride in knowing that our products help bring families and friends closer together – especially during these uncertain times.

While we truly appreciate the strong demand for Walpole products, the reality is that the effects of the pandemic are impacting our supply chain, as they are so many other business and industries in the country. Fortunately, our long-standing relationships with key vendors are keeping us supplied with the raw materials that we need to continue delivering the highest quality products to our customers, and our resourceful field operations team have been able to meet installation demand.

However, even with these remarkable efforts from our partners and internal teams, we still face an unprecedented staffing shortage as our Maine manufacturing operations ramp up to meet increased demand. We are proud of our Maine heritage and the craftsman who build our products – we just need more of them. We are not immune to the labor shortage crisis, and as we work through this challenge, we ask for your patience and understanding. We will continue to invest in our people, products and businesses processes, in order to provide the service our customers have come to expect for almost 90 years.

I would like to also share, that despite the obstacles and challenges of the past year, Walpole Outdoors still has much to celebrate in 2021. This winter we completed a 9,000 sq ft expansion of our primary manufacturing plant in Pittsfield, ME. We also completed the company’s digital transformation, replacing clip boards with iPads in our field service fleet. And I am writing this note from our new HQ/Showroom/Training Center located in the Patriot Place complex in Foxborough, MA. This attractive suburban venue, conveniently located and loaded with amenities, helps us attract the best and brightest talent in sales, estimating, engineering, marketing and finance. Locating our corporate offices in Patriot Place is a sure winner.

Current staffing challenges are slowly improving and production output is increasing each week. We will not rest until we make meaningful progress and we ask for your support as we do our part in getting America back to work.

Kind regards,
Peter O’Connell
